President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Michael Ango as the new Acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS).
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press in the Office of the FCT Minister.
The statement said Ango’s appointment is anticipated to drive the expansion of the FCT-IRS’s revenue base.
Mr. Ango steps into this role following the tenure of Mr. Haruna Abdullahi, who served as the acting head of the FCT-IRS for nearly three years.
With over two decades of experience across both public and private sectors, Ango has established a reputation for excellence and innovation in revenue collection and management.
His extensive background in revenue administration, financial management, and organizational leadership positions him to enhance the agency’s performance significantly.
Ango who hails from Kebbi State, brings a robust academic background to the position.
He earned his Master of Law degree from Columbia University School of Law in New York in 2019, following his Bachelor of Law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2002. Additionally, Ango completed his Nigerian Law School training in 2003 and later attended Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Education program in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration in 2013.
Ango is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, among other professional bodies.
In his new role, Ango will be responsible for spearheading strategic initiatives aimed at boosting revenue generation, improving taxpayer compliance, and streamlining operations to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the FCT-IRS.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the FCT-IRS, as the agency seeks to broaden its revenue streams and reinforce fiscal sustainability.
