Controversial musician and entertainer, Darlington Okoye popularly known as Speed Darlington has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri the Imo State capital.
The arrest was announced by his legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju on his official X page formally Twitter on Wednesday
Adeyanju said his client was apprehended while performing in a show at Owerri days after returning back to Nigeria.
He said: “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
The circumstances surrounding the singer’s arrest are not yet clear at the time this report is being published.
DAILY GIST recalls that Darlington was apprehended and held on Friday, October 4th in Lagos, and subsequently being transferred to several locations within the state before arriving in Abuja.
His arrest was prompted by a complaint lodged by his fellow artist, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, concerning allegations of cyberstalking.
The musician was released to Adeyanju after fulfilling his bail requirements at the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team’s Department located in the Guzape area of Abuja.
