Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF have arrested Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the African Action Congress (AAC) gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election in Ondo State.
Ajayi, who is affiliated with the Take It Back Movement, was taken into custody by the police on Saturday in Akure during the one-million-man protest against hunger and economic hardship in the country.
According to the organization, Ajayi was arrested alongside fellow activist Patrick Owolabi.
The Take It Back Movement, a human rights advocacy group, publicized the arrest through a post on its official X account, calling for their prompt release.
The post reads, “It’s unfortunate that the @PoliceNG is yet to learn.
“The continued clampdown on peaceful #EndBadGovernceInNigeria protesters is a total shame.
“We condemn the unlawful arrest of Ajayi Wizeman & Patrick Owolabi in Ondo state and we demand their immediate and unconditional release!”
However, the Ondo State Police Command has yet to issue any public statement regarding the said arrest as of the time of filing this report.
