Confusion has trailed the Edo State All Progressives Congress, PDP governorship primaries on Thursday as another candidate emerged as winner.
Asue Ighodalo, a businessman won the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) conducted by another faction in the party.
Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara and returning officer of the election, declared Ighodalo winner of the primary poll on Thursday.
Lawal said Ighodalo secured 577 votes to defeat other aspirants in the race.
The primary elections was conducted by different factions of the party to pick the party flàg bearer for the September 21, governorship election in the state.
Earlier, DAILY GIST reported that the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu emerged PDP candidate for the upcoming governorship election.
Shaibu won the parallel primaries with over 301 votes on Thursday.
While it’s not yet cleared yet who the authentic candidate is, DAILY GIST reports that Obaseki and his deputy, Shaibu have been at loggerheads over the next PDP governorship candidate in Edo State.
Obaseki is believed to be supporting another aspirant.
