The Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has stated her position on becoming PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar running mate in 2023.

Permutations to find a running mate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar have continued to intensify.

While persons like the Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Senator Ben Bruce, have already joined the race, PDP stakeholders have started considering the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa and the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as possible options for running mate.

Also, on the cards for consideration for the number two slot, are the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

This is as the South-east has made a strong case for compensation with the vice president slot, saying PDP could not deny the zone tickets for both president and vice-president.

Sources said Atiku Abubakar had pleaded with Okonjo-Iweala to take the exalted post, but Okonjo blatantly told Atiku that she won’t play second fiddle, besides power ought to go South East.
