The management of obafemi awolowo university, ile-ife has reacted to the rumours circulating that it has extended the harmattan academic calendar by two weeks.
Recall that the management had on February 19th after a senate meeting fixed April 26th to begin examination for harmattan semester, a check by DAILY GIST also confirmed that the harmattan semester examination would end by May 14th, 2021
However, the management through it’s spokesperson, Abiodun Olarenwaju while speaking exclusively with DAILY GIST on Thursday said there is plan to extend the harmattan academic calendar by two weeks but stressed that the decision is subjected to senate approval who has the final say.
In his words, He said; “Yes, there is plan to extend the academic calendar by two weeks, but you know the university Senate has the final say.”
“We are having a senate meeting on Friday to discuss if it’s going to be approved or not, so by tomorrow after the meeting I will get back to you.” he added
He attributed the purported extension of the calendar by two weeks to the fact that some departments have not finished their lectures (both online and practical aspects).
Abiodun added that the institution will hold a senate meeting on Friday (tomorrow) to discuss the planned extension of the academic calendar. He promised to get back to DAILY GIST immediately on the outcome of the meeting
