The management of Obafemi Awolowo University ile-ife, Osun state has given updates on the reopening of hall of residence inside campus following phased resumption of physical classes
The management in a statement signed by the public relation officer of the university, Abiodun Olarenwaju and forwarded to DAILY GIST on Saturday had annouced phased resumption of physical classes for practicals.
The management though in the statement did not clarify the reopening of Hostels for non-off campus students.
However, speaking with DAILY GIST on Saturday, The registrar of the university, Mrs Omosule M.I, The Dean of student affairs, Prof Aransi and the university spokesperson, Abiodun Olarenwaju all affirmed that students who were given accomodation can now go back to their various hall of residence as scheduled in the phased resumption circular earlier released.
Seeking a clarification and responding to questions asked by DAILY GIST on whether students are allowed back or not to the hall of residence, Omosule said; ”Yes, Student who were given accomodation would be allowed inside the hall of residence.”
She however noted that the resumption is in phase and warned students to resume only as scheduled in the circular.
Affirming what Mrs omosule said, the Dean of Student affairs said; “The hall of residence would be opened for students that have accomodation inside the campus.”
”Other students that don’t have accomodation should not come.” She said.
She said others who were not given hostels inside campus should sort themselves out adding that the university has done all his best to help students amidst this period of pandemic.
Recall that the management had announced resumption of academic activities after agreements between the governing councils of the university were reached during a Senate meeting on the 19th of February.
The university ordered all students excepts Clinical, Pharmacy and Agric departments to adopt online classes which had started on March 8th, 2021 amidst COVID-19 pandemic in the country
