Nollywood actor, Jimmy Odukoya has been named as the general overseer of the Fountain of Life Church, succeeding his late father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya.
The announcement was made during a church service on Sunday.
DAILY GIST recalls that Taiwo Odukoya, the church’s founder, died on August 7, in the United States at the age of 67.
He died less than two years after losing his wife, Nomthi, a South African, on November 9, 2021, following a two-year battle with cancer.
However, during the service, a pastor, Rotimi Okpaise, disclosed that the late Taiwo Odukoya had shared his succession plan with the board of trustees before he passed away.
Okpaise said the BoT unanimously elected Jimmy as the senior pastor and chairperson of the board.
Okpaise revealed that prior to his passing, Taiwo Odukoya had shared his succession plan with the board of trustees (BoT) members.
“The board has chosen Saturday, September 30, 2023, as the date of Jimmy’s installation,” he said.
In light of this, the BoT collectively elected Jimmy to serve as the senior pastor and also appointed him as the chairperson of the board.
Known for his role in the 2022 movie The Woman King, Jimmy is the first child of late pastors Bimbo Odukoya and Taiwo Odukoya.
