Senator Ali Ndume has been appointed as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism.
The appointment comes following his removal as the Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate.
The senator was removed after suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government has been hijacked.
Ndume, a former Senate leader, made the comment in a recent interview with Arise TV and BBC Hausa
The ruling All Progressives Congress moved against him after the interview asking the Senate leadership to relieve him of the position.
The upper chamber took the unanimous resolution to effect the replacement, after a letter of complaint against the unbecoming utterances of the chief whip, Sen. Ali Ndume by the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Headquarters, was read by the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.
Ndume was not only stripped of his position as Chief Whip, but the committee he co-chaired as Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations.
Sen. Tahir Munguno was announced as the new Senate Chief Whip, replacing Ndume
However, Ndume, a ranking senator from Borno state, will now assume leadership of the Tourism Committee.
