Ekiti state governor, Biodun Oyebanji has approved a work-from-home policy for civil servants over the economic hardship in the country.

The governor stated that the initiative is designed to alleviate the impact of the ongoing economic challenges employees face.

This was contained in a statement made available to DAILY GIST by the governor’s special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode on Friday.

According to the statement, the new policy stipulates that civil servants in grades 01-07 can work from home for three days each week.

Meanwhile, those in grades 08-12 will work remotely two days a week, and employees in grades 13-17 can work from home once a week.

This policy is set to take effect on Monday, September 9, 2024, and will not apply to essential personnel, including teachers, critical healthcare workers, and security staff, among others.

According to the governor’s instructions, each Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA) must develop a feasible schedule for its staff to ensure that this work-from-home policy does not compromise the quality of service delivery.

The arrangement will remain in effect for two months and will be reviewed periodically based on the current situation.

Furthermore, this policy does not interfere with other support measures established by the state government, such as the monthly wage awards for employees and pensioners, as well as the provision of accessible transportation for workers and students.

The Ekiti State government led by Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji said it is dedicated to the welfare of its workforce and will persist in executing necessary strategies to boost their productivity.
