Nigerian telecommunications company, Glo has reacted to the allegations of unpaid connection charge to MTN.

News Agency of Nigeria, NAN quotes a reliable source in Globacom as saying that the N1.6 billion in question had previously been paid without any issue.

The clarification follows a public pre-disconnection warning sent by the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, DAILY GIST reported on Monday

According to the NCC’s notice, which was released on its X page, Glo had failed to settle its outstanding obligations despite repeated attempts at resolution, causing the allowed partial disconnection.

The NCC said in an official statement, “At the end of ten days on January 8, 2024, Globacom subscribers will no longer be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls.”

However reacting, the Glo official disputed the NCC’s charges, emphasizing that a comprehensive fact-checking process should have been carried out before raising allegations of non-payment.

“We do not owe MTN any interconnect charges,” the glo official claimed.

Furthermore, the official emphasized Globacom’s vital role as the first telecommunications firm to provide pay-per-second invoicing, thereby challenging other international companies operating in Nigeria’s monopoly.

According to the official, “The report against Nigeria’s fully indigenous telecommunications company that has redefined access to communications at all levels is false.”

The official added that Glo was the first telecoms company that introduced the pay per second form of billing, thereby cutting the monopoly of the other foreign companies operating in Nigeria.
