The federal government through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a new structure for standard passport application fees, with the changes set to take effect from September 1, 2025.
The Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, August 28, noting that the adjustment applies strictly to applications made within Nigeria.
Under the revised rates, a 32-page passport with five years validity will now cost ₦100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10 years validity will go for ₦200,000.
However, Nigerians in the diaspora will not be affected by the review. Their current fees remain unchanged at $150 for a 32-page passport with five years validity and $230 for a 64-page passport with 10 years validity.
Explaining the rationale behind the decision, the NIS said the review was aimed at sustaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring that service delivery remains efficient and accessible to citizens.
