Meta’s social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are down globally.
Alongside Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram, the Threads app is also reportedly down.
Real-time internet and social media outage and monitoring service, Downdetector.pk, reported the Meta-owned social sites’ outage across the globe
Users are currently unable to access the social media platforms.
DAILY GIST learnt that the outage started on Tuesday afternoon as users were logged out of their various accounts.
Meta spokesperson, Andy Stone, said in a post on X that the company was aware of the current trouble its users experienced.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Stone said
WhatsApp, which is also owned by Meta, however appeared to be working as normal.
Meta’s status page showed “major disruptions” impacting Facebook login, as well as some other areas of the platform.
It’s unclear what is causing the problems but many Facebook and Instagram users have dashed to rival social site, X (formerly Twitter). The hashtag #facebookdown is trending on Twitter with hundreds of users posting their frustration or asking what had happened.
