Operatives of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in the wee hours of Wednesday have raided the hostels of some students of Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) in Ile-ife, Osun State.
While the reason for the midnight raid could not be immediately ascertained, DAILY GIST gathered that unspecified number of students were arrested by the operatives.
Sources in OAU told DAILY GIST that the anti-graft agency stormed the hostels in Odudua estate around 2.am on Wednesday and begin to harass the students before they were eventually whisked away.

The Students Union body of the institution confirmed the incident in a statement via its verified Twitter page.
“We strongly condemn the recent unjust arrest and harassment of our fellow students by members of the EFCC
@officialEFCC in the odd hours of today, Nov 1st, 2023.
“This action is unacceptable and goes against the principles of justice and due process.
“We stand in solidarity with our peers and call for a thorough investigation into these incidents.
The safety and rights of students must be protected.”the statement reads.
DAILY GIST could not reached the EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale for comment on the incident as of the time of publishing this report.
