A former Kogi governorship candidate, Dino Melaye has won a six-year legal battle with the Nigerian government and the Inspector General of Police, IGP.
DAILY GIST recalls that Melaye was acquitted in a case levelled against him by the Nigerian government before the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, ABuja.
Justice Sylvanus Oriji who delivered verdict on the case cleared the former senator of two charges bordering on provision of false information concerning an alleged assassination attempt on his life in 2017.
In the legal battle which commenced in February 2018, Melaye faced accusations of false implication of Edward Onoja, the then chief of staff to the governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, in the assassination allegation.
Reacting to the ruling of the court on his X page on Monday, the former senator said he lives life just as it comes to him.
He posted, “I take life as it comes, but in all the vicissitudes of life, I trust in God only. He is always with the just.
“Justice served after six years. Justice delayed is never justice denied. God alone be praised. SEN. DINO MELAYE 12 – FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND IGP 0.12 CASES ALL WON BY GOD.”
