It would be recall that the eNaira app recently launched by President Muhammadu Buhari was removed by Google’ from Play Store on Wednesday evening, DAILY GIST reports.
However, the app is currently available on the Apple app store with 2.6 over 5 ratings.
The digital currency has two applications, which are eNaira speed wallet and eNaira merchant wallet.
Although, as at the time of filing this report, the eNaira Merchant App, which has considerable positive comments is still available for download.
On Monday, the two apps were rolled out on the Google play store and the Apple store.
The removal of eNaira wallet app from the Play Store may not be disconnected from the numerous complaints and poor performance ratings the app has received since it’s launch.
Users had earlier rated the application low and made several complaints on the eNaira app on the Google Play Store.
But reacting to the development in a statement, CBN noted that it is just an upgrade procedure ongoing.
CBN said: “the Apple version is up and running, even on the play store, the Merchant wallet is up. These are mere technical procedures and they will be sorted and restored in no time. The upgrade is for the individual or retail user of the Google play store app.”
“There’s an upgrade going on at the moment by Google. Try in the next few hours. That’s the position and will be up shortly.”
The apex bank also dismissed reports that the eNaira platform crashed 48 hours after it was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari.
To access the eNaira, users have to download the ‘speed wallet’, which allows users to make quick and easy transactions. It is the digital storage that holds the eNaira and is held and managed on a distributed ledger.
