A former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Ika federal constituency of Delta State, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, is dead.
Ojougboh died on Wednesday night while watching the AFCON 2023 semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.
According to information gathered by DAILY GIST on Thursday, Ojougboh slumped as soon as a penalty was awarded against Nigeria vs South Africa during the match.
“As soon as a penalty kick was awarded against Nigeria during the AFCON match with South Africa on Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Bouake, Ivory Coast, he slumped,” a source privy to the incident told Reporters.
DAILY GIST reports that Nigeria’s Super Eagles qualified for the final of the African Cup of Nations after defeating South Africa in Wednesday’s semi-final clash.
The match was decided on penalties after 120 minutes of football ended 1-1.
The Super Eagles scored four of their penalties while Bafana Bafana missed two of theirs.
Nigeria will now face the Ivory Coast again in the AFCON final. This is the first AfCON final for the Super Eagles in 11 years.
