DAILY GIST had earlier reported how Gunmen suspected to be terrorist attacked Kuje correctional center in Abuja on Tuesday night.

The prison came under heavy bombardments by unknown terrorists, throwing the entire area Council into confusion.

Some Bokoharam Inmates and other criminals were said to have escaped during the attack.

It was gathered that while many inmates took advantage of the chaos as the military and other security agents guarding the facility took to their heels, Abba Kyari and his men who have been standing trial for alleged money laundering and sundry offences refused to escape.

DAILY GIST learnt on Tuesday that other remaining inmates have been removed from the facility including the suspended deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari, who was remanded at the prison by a Federal High Court.

Kyari is standing trial for allegedly dealing in cocaine alongside four members of his former police unit, the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Unit (IRT), and two other persons arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Enugu State, in January this year.
