Human rights and political activist, Deji Adeyanju has withdrawn his support for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 general elections.
According to him, Peter Obi is no saint but as corrupt as other candidates.
He also called out Obi’s supporters, describing them as ‘crazy online fans’ who go about bullying others, especially those who are against Obi’s candidacy
Giving reasons why he stopped supporting Obi, Adeyanju in a post shared on Twitter, said he met with the former Anambra State for a meeting where he spoke about investing billions of state funds into his family business.
Adeyanju said Obi tried to justify the reason for spending the money and many other things he said but he was displeased with it.
He however agreed that Peter Obi is the best candidate among others who had declared to run for the office of the presidency but insisted that he is not a saint because he is also corrupt as others.
He stated that he ended his support for him after their three hours meeting.
He said: “The real reason I stopped supporting Peter Obi was after I met him for a 3hrs meeting at his instance of course & he told me he invested billions of Anambra State funds into his family business. And the man was even trying to justify it. So many other things he said. SMH!
“I agree that Peter Obi is the best candidate among those who have declared, especially with his cutting of cost theory, but he’s no saint. He’s as corrupt as the others. Investing Anambra money into his family business is the height of corruption and abuse of office.”
