Journalism is the aggregating, writing, editing and presenting of news or articles for widespread distribution, typically in electronic publications and broadcast news media, for the purpose of informing the audience.

An institution of higher institution and its ambiance is what we refer to as a campus.
Campus journalism is the powerhouse of information – it is undoubtedly needed on campus.

Aside from the fact that campus journalism gives student journalists opportunities to practice their crafts and share their thoughts, insights about certain issues, there are other reasons why it’s important.

– To uphold freedom of the press at campus level.

– Campus journalism helps students become aware of what’s happening around them. They learn how to become responsive and proactive citizens at a young age.

– Campus journalism provides students a voice. Student journalists can act as the messengers of the student body. They can talk about issues, policies and events that are essential to both the students and school administration. Also, campus journalism helps students to practise theier freedom of expression.

– Campus journalism helps students improve their skills in communication arts. The student journalists are each given regular tasks – editing, writing, proof reading, headline writing among others. As such, they are trained in various fields.

The young journalists also learn to delegate and to value teamwork. So, campus journalism actually trains them to become well – rounded individuals and members of society.

The media plays a vital role in a democratic society. Journalism is for the ‘voice of a voiceless’ – expressing opinions of all those in our society (campus). So, why not subscribe to journalism now? Let’s build a better society together!
