The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday has fixed a date for the 2022 Osun gubernatorial election.
INEC in a statement said, Saturday,16th of July, 2022 has been fixed for the election.
This date was contained in a timetable released by INEC and signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony on Tuesday.
In the timetable dated 10th July 2021, the schedule of activities for the election would start from the publishing of Notice of Election on 1st February 2022.
With the release of the timetable, Nigeria’s main political parties – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) – would be able to start preparations for the election.
Recall that Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC had defeated Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDPin the September 22, 2018 governorship election.
