DAILY GIST understands how frustrating writing UTME every year could be without getting admission or if your preffered course is not given to you. In this article we have explained some important tips that can help you score high in your next POST-UTME exam regardless of your school of choice.

Below are the following tips that can help you;

1. ASK PEOPLE ABOUT HOW YOUR PREFFERED SCHOOL SET QUESTION: While some Universities set and ask questions based on the four courses in your JAMB, some chooses to ask general knowledge questions only. So, It’s very important to make enquiries about the way your school of choice set thier questions, one of the easiest way to do this is to ask previous applicants that have done the exam before, they are the best people that can explain and tell you how the exam will look like, they have passed through it so definitely they will have something important to tell you about the exam.

2. GET NECESSARY MATERIALS AND PAST QUESTIONS: After making enquires about your school of choice, the next thing is to get all the necessary materials including past questions. Your materials should include the syllabus, textbooks and most importantly, the past questions. The past questions will give you an insight and pattern of what you are going to meet on your exam day. Solving past questions will open your mind to the type of question you could meet in your exam.

Infact they could repeat or bring a question from previous years and that will be like a bonus mark if you solve your past questions very well.

3. BE CONSISTENT WITH YOUR READING: Don’t wait till few days to your exam before you start making preparation, start early and be consistent while you are reading, read everyday till your exam day so that you won’t forget all what you have been reading. Even after you might have read a particular book or material finish, go over it again and again, by so doing it wl stick to your head and you won’t forget what you have read easily.

4. KNOW THE CUT-OFF MARK OF YOUR SCHOOL: All Universities in Nigeria has it’s own general cut-off mark they use in admitting students. For example some universities Like OAU, UI, UNILAG etc. use 200 as cut-off mark to qualify for POST-UTME screening/test while others like UNILORIN, UNIMAID etc. use below 200.

So you are advised to check the cut-off mark of your school before applying or do POST-UTME registration to know if you are qualified.

5. ATTEND TUTORIALS: If you think you may not be satisfied with only what you have read, then why not attending tutorials where they will explicitly explain all what you need to crush the exams. Attending tutorials will help a lot because there is a chance for you to ask what is not cleared to you or questions you were not able to solve.

6. ARRIVE EARLY TO THE EXAM HALL: Its very important that you don’t arrive to the exam center late, this will make you settle very well on the exam day and you can revise what you have read easily before being call into the exam hall. Arriving late to the exam hall may cause you troubles on the exam day as some schools are very strict with punishment for coming late to the exam hall, besides that may make you to forget most of what you have read.

7. PRAY TO GOD: In all things we do in life, surely we need God to guide us through. Pray to God to let what you have read be applicable to all the questions you will meet in the exam because sometimes the more you read doesn’t necessarily determine how you will pass, So God’s guidance is very important.
