Some Important Tips To Get Admission Into OAU

The Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile-ife, Osun state with no doubt is one of the best universities in Nigeria. As a result it gets tougher and tougher every year for students seeking admission into the prestigious university because of the limited available capacity thereby making it competitive for students.

Over many years, Most JAMB students preffered to choose Obafemi Awolowo University as thier first choice because of their unique records. However students find it difficult to easily get admission especially into courses like Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Nursing, Law, Engineering courses etc.

As a matter of fact, OAU give admission to only eligible students that meet all the requirements, so don’t expect any miracle to happen. It requires that you must work hard and be determined to give it all what it takes for you to be considered or given admission into the university.

This article will enumerate some important tips that will guide you easily to secure or gain admission into Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU),Ile-ife,Osun state.

Below are the following tips you should take note;

1. GET A GOOD O’LEVEL RESULT: your secondary school result(either WAEC or NECO) is one of the criteria that will be used by the university to consider you for admission. It plays a key role in getting you admitted, at least you must have credit in all the five compulsory subjects. However to have a better chances, It’s advisable that do well in your o’level result and get A or B in all the five subjects. The o’level result according to the university management carries 10% out of 100.

2. SCORE HIGH IN JAMB: 200 is the minimum score for any applicants to be  considered for admission into OAU. Scoring up to 250 and above will increase your chance of getting admitted however it still depends on your preferred course. For example aspirants who choose medicine and surgery, Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry are advised not to get less than 300 in JAMB to strongly keep the hope alive while aspirants that choose course like Agriculture, Education,Art, Philosophy, Psychology etc. may only need to score between 200 – 240 to secure the admission.

Your Jamb score carries 40% out of 100.

4. PREPARE VERY WELL FOR POST-UTME AND SCORE HIGH: After you have successfully passed and scored more than 200 in your UTME exam, the next thing is to prepare for the POST-UTME screening exam. Get all necessary materials including syllabus, textbooks and past questions, Solve many past questions repeatedly as much as you can.

OAU is known for repeating questions from past years, so solving past questions is one of the keys that can make you score high in your POST-UTME, aside that, it will show you the ways and patterns of likely questions you can meet in your exam.

Usually, the general bench-mark for all aspirants intended to write OAU POST-UTME is 50%

Summarily, according to the university management guidelines on requirements and criteria for admission, O’level is 10%, JAMB/UTME is 40% and POST-UTME is 50%.

5. CONNECTION: As we all know in this country today, connection with top people seems to work more in getting things done successfully. It’s advisable that if you know any top lecturers in charge of the admission, do not be too shy or proud to ask for assistance. No one is saying you should rely on this but just see it as added advantage.

According to JAMB analysis, Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) remains one of the most toughest universities in Nigeria in the aspect of giving admission to students, you have to work hard to join other Great Ife students inside African most beautiful campus.
