Hoodlums Engage In Bloody Clash In Osun, Five Killed

Hoodlums suspected to be rival cultists and land grabbers have engaged themselves in bloody clash in ilesa, Osun state.

At least five persons have been feared killed in the clash.

It was gathered that seven persons also sustained severe injuries on several parts of their bodies.

The fight was said to have started on Friday evening after some youths suspected to be cultists stormed a new building that was being roofed at Omi-Tuntun area of Ilesa and demanded for money from the workers at the site.

It was further gathered that the hoodlums who also operate as land grabbers, were resisted from extorting workers on the site by some suspected cultists said to be relations of the house owner.

A clash broke out and a suspected cultist was overpowered, dragged to the bush and hacked to death by the gang that was protecting the new building.

The hoodlums was said to have regrouped at night and revenged the death of their colleague. The group stormed Ijoka Area of Ilesa and killed another suspected cultist.

Sources disclosed that, in a bid to maim their opponents, an innocent woman was shot dead by the warring suspected cultists on Friday night.

The rampaging youths resumed their hostilities on Saturday and ended up killing two innocent residents.

According to an eyewitness, the three innocent persons that lost their lives were, a woman going to a vigil, a trader at Sabo area of the place where the incident happened and a middle-aged man that came from Ilerin-Ijesha area of the state.

Residents of the town have called appealed to the state commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode to find a lasting solution to the problem of ‘Omo Onile’ and cultists in the area and the state in general.

Confirming the incident, police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola hinted that the commissioner of Police would be visiting the troubled zone to restore nolmacy

Opalola said that, the perpetrators of the act would be fished out and would face the consequences of law.

When asked whether the police had arrested anybody in connection with the mayhem, she declined comment.
