DMO Releases Debts Of All The 36 States In Nigeria

A recent data released by the Debt Management Office (DMO) has shown the debts of all the 36 states in Nigeria including the FCT.

DMO stated that Nigeria’s public debt stock as at December 31, 2023 was N97.341 trillion (108.229 billion dollars).

It noted that the amount comprised domestic and external debt stocks of the Federal Government, the 36 states governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Below is the 36 states and FCT total indebtedness according to DMO

SOUTH-SOUTH 

Delta: ₦426.72bn
Cross River: ₦410.09bn
Edo: ₦406.69bn
Rivers: ₦305.37bn
Akwa Ibom: ₦228.80bn
Bayelsa: ₦204.53bn

SOUTH-EAST 

Imo: ₦286.70bn

Anambra: ₦170.65bn
Ebonyi: ₦155.79bn

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has again crashed the price of dollar for Bureau De Change, BDCs operators across the country.

The apex bank in a statement issued on Monday announced the sale of $10,000 to each BDC at a rate of N1,101/$1.

This was contained in a post on the CBN X platform , on Monday, 8th April, 2024.

The development is coming few days after the BDC operators requested a review of the buying rate of the dollar by the CBN.
