With no doubt, when mentioning a country blessed with rich and prominent politicians, Nigeria will be listed among the top five.

Nigeria is a country blessed with which politicians who don’t only depend on the money they get from politics, but also have several businesses which they run aside from their political career.

Here on this list, DAILY GIST brings you the top 10 richest politicians in Nigeria.

1. Ibrahim Babangida – $5 billion

General Ibrahim Babangida is a former Nigerian military head of state and a military president. Popularly known as IBB, General Ibrahim Babangida was known for his involvement in the annulment of the June 12, 1991, presidential election where the late MKO Abiola was declared the winner.

General Ibrahim Babangida is said to be the richest politician in Nigeria currently with an estimated net worth of $5 billion.

2. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu – $4 Billion

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), and the former governor of Lagos State.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu was elected as the Senator for the Lagos West constituency in the year 1993 which was a year period to the military takeover.

The prominent Nigerian politician who is said to be contesting for the 2023 presidential election, is considered to be the second richest politician in Nigeria due to his multi-million Naira investments in Lagos.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubh sits in the second position on our list of the wealthiest politicians in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $4 billion.

3. Atiku Abubakar – $1.8 Billion

Atiku Abubakar is the former Vice President of Nigeria after winning the 1999 presidential election alongside General Olusegun Obasanjo.

Both served the country for 8 years which was 1999 to 2007.

Atiku Abubakar was born on the 25th of November, 1946, in Adamawa state which was formerly known as Gongola state.

Atiku Abubakar’s story is a bit sad, as he lost his dad at the early age of 11, and also lost his mum when he grew older, at the age of 38.

Atiku Abubakar is a Nigerian politician who is very rich and wealthy, and he was also a candidate for the 2019 presidential election, which he lost to the current Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku Abubakar has an estimated net worth of $1.8 Billion.

4. Ifeanyi Ubah – $1.7 billion

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah is the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and Gas Industries and Ifeanyi Ubah Football Club.

Ubah, a Nigerian politician is a man who rose from grass to grace, as he started his business by selling spare parts and tyres.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has an estimated Net Worth f $1.7 Billion.

5. Olusegun Obasanjo – $1.6 Billion

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo is one of the most popular names we have on the list.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is a former Nigerian military head of state who served as the military head of state from the Year 1976 to 1979, before serving as a civilian president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the year 1999 to 2007 where he used a complete eight-year tenure with Atiku Abubakar his Vice President.

Obasanjo owns the largest poultry farm in Nigeria known as the Obasanjo farms which are currently ranked as the largest in West Africa.

6. Rochas Okorocha – $1.5 Billion

Rochas Okorocha is another big name we have on the list.

Rochas Okorocha is a Nigerian politician and a former governor of Imo State where is used a four-year tenure after winning the gubernatorial election in the year 2011.

Although he contested for re-election in 2015, he lost. Following this, he became a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Rochas Okorocha is also one of the richest businessmen in Nigeria as he said to have an estimated net worth of $1.5 billion.

7. Orji Uzor Kalu  – $1.1billion

On our list is another senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a prominent businessman, senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

Senators Orji Uzor Kalu is a prominent Nigerian businessman and the chief executive officer of Sun newspaper and new Telegraph. He is also the chairman of the cooperative and Commerce Bank Limited.

8. Dino Melaye – $900 million

This is one of the most funniest and hilarious senators on the list. Senator Dino Melaye is known for his Instagram comics where he mocks failed government.

He became popular due to his funny Instagram videos and was also known for fainting when he was arrested a few years back over fraud allegations.

There is no doubt about it that Senator Dino Melaye is rich, and he is also a member of the House of Representatives in Kogi State.

9. Ahmadu Adamu Mu’Azu – Net worth: $895 million

Ahmadu Adamu Mu’Azu was the former governor of Bauchi State and also the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ahmadu Adamu Mu’Azu was also the former property manager of the Bauchi State Investment and Property Development Company.

He has an estimated net of $894 million.

10. Rotimi Amaechi – Net worth: $780 million

Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was the former governor of Rivers State who served a complete 8 years tenure from the year 2007 to 2015.

Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is the current minister of transportation in Nigeria, and one of his projects – the Lagos-Ibadan railway was recently commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in Lagos.

Rotimi Amaechi is also considered one of the richest politicians in Nigeria with a total net worth of $780 million.
