It has been revealed, a list of top ten Nigerian governors in 2022.

In some countries, it is possible to see a top politician who still belongs to society’s middle-class, due to the manner the system had been structured. But here in Nigeria, a top politician, particularly a Governor, is usually already part of the wealthiest in the society.

Of course, we should note that some of these guys are already doing fine in their careers or businesses before emerging as Governor.

Nevertheless, in present-day Nigeria, one of the sure ways of growing your wealth is to find your way into a top political office.

However due to several reasons, we will identify the fact that some are richer than others.

In this article, DAILY GIST take a look at the top ten richest governors in the country.

1. Governor Abubakar Sani Bello – Net worth of $1b

The Governor of Niger State is said to be the current richest Governor in Nigeria. He assumed office back then in May 2015, under the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Bello, who was born on the 17th of December 1967, was already rich even before becoming the Governor of the State. His father, Colonel Sani Bello, used to be a military Governor in the country, as well as a billionaire. So, he was born with a silver spoon.

2. Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike – Net worth of $550m

Ezenwo Wike, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, is another rich Governor in the country, with an estimated net worth that is said to be around $550 million.

Born on the 13th of December 1963, he served as Minister of Education during the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan. He has been a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for a long time now and is one of the Party’s major stakeholders.

3. Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai – Net worth of $400m

Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai is the current Governor of Kaduna State and is also a very rich man. He was born on the 16th of December 1960 and is one of the most educated governors in the country.

Before becoming the Governor of Kaduna, Nasir has already accumulated a lot of wealth, as he has been a minister under the administration of President Jonathan – the Minister of the FCT.

4. Governor Dapo Abiodun – Net worth of $314m

Dapo Abiodun is the current Governor of Ogun State, and he is regarded as the fourth richest Governor in the country. Before he became a Governor in Nigeria, he has been doing fine in his chain of businesses. He has a huge investment in the oil and gas sector.

Currently, the Governor cruise in a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser, which has been his official car for some time now as Governor of Ogun State.

6. Governor Godwin Obaseki – Net worth of $225m

Godwin Obaseki is the governor of Edo State. He is said to be worth around $225m, making him one rich politician in Nigeria. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Art in Classics from the prestigious University of Ibadan in Oyo State.

Godwin also studied at the University of Columbia as well as Pace University, both in the United States of America. The Governor has investments in different crucial sectors of the economy. He used to be a member of the APC before changing the boat, joining PDP to obtain a ticket for his second-term ambition. The executive governor of Edo State is said to cruise with a Lexus LX 570s as his official car.

7. Governor Seyi Makinde – Net worth of $126m

Even before he started his race upon his election as Governor of Oyo State, it was discovered that Seyi Makinde is already very rich. He declared his asset to the public, and he was seen to be worth a lot.

Seyi, who was born on the 25th of December 1967, is an active member of PDP, and an Engineer, who studied electrical engineering at the University of Lagos before traveling abroad for further studies.

8. Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal – Net worth of $27m

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was born on the 10th of December 1966. He is currently the governor of Sokoto State and is one of the richest in Nigeria.

Tambuwal, who is a member of the PDP, served as the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015, before becoming the Governor of Sokoto State.

Aminu, who studied law at Usman Dan Fodio University, reportedly uses a Toyota Prado SUV as his official car as the executive Governor of Sokoto State.

9. Governor Yahaya Bello – Net worth of $5.6m

Yahaya Bello is the current governor of Kogi State. He is a young and rich Governor in Nigeria, although many young people usually complain of his conduct.

Yahaya obtained a degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University before proceeding for his Master’s. He is a member of the APC and is said to be worth around $5.6 million.

10. Governor Bala Mohammed – Net worth of $5.6m

Last on the list is Governor Bala Mohammed, who is the Executive Governor of Bauchi State. He is said to be worth around $5.6 million, making him one of the richest Governors In Nigeria.

Bala, who had a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of Maiduguri, had been doing well for himself before becoming a Governor. He had served as the Minister of FCT, and he is an active member of the PDP.
