Some okada riders in Lagos state on Thursday have reportedly opened fire on police officers, shooting a policeman dead while many were injured.
The incident happened around Ajao Estate on Airport Road in Lagos on Thursday evening
According to reports, The okada riders also vandalised a police van in the area in the mayhem that ensued.
It was gathered that policemen from the Lagos Police Command had gone to the area to carry out enforcement restricting okada riders from plying the prohibited roads.
In the process, the motorcycle riders mobilised members inside Ajao Estate to begin massive onslaught against the police.
The okada riders reportedly disarmed a Superintendent of Police and shot him dead with his gun
The irate okada riders, it was gathered also attacked a nearby police station and shot three policemen.
An eyewitness said a police officer identified as Kazeem Abonde former DPO, Ajangbadi was killed during the attack, DAILY GIST however could not authoritatively confirm this.
Spokesperson, of Lagos Police Command, Adekunle Ajiesbutu has not reacted to the incident as at the time of filling this report
