Nigerian man arrested for posting disturbing videos of his 4-year old girl online has explained reasons for his actions.
DAILY GIST reported that the father whose real name was yet to be ascertained str!pp3d her daughter n@k3d and uploaded her pictures & video on social media platforms.
A digital poster of the little girl posing in a manner akin to a hooker with a bottle of Hennessy by the side went viral online.
The arrest of the father followed outrage of netizens on X who drew the attention of the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the exploitation of the child.
A statement issued by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, PPRO confirmed the arrest of her father.
He said the content portrays the young child in inappropriate poses, akin to adult contents.
The Police in strong terms condemned the exploitation of the vulnerable child.
Speaking on the incident, Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye said: “It is true the incident happened. We are taking it up. The Edo State Commissioner for Gender is interested in the case.
The office of the first lady of the state is also interested in the case, and it is being handled appropriately”he added
However, the father has now justified his actions by claiming he wanted to make his daughter a celebrity.
During his interrogation, recorded on video by the police, he explained that his intention was to promote her as a model, believing she was too young to pursue a career as a comedian. He emphasized that he did not mean any harm by sharing the photos online.
Whenn asked what his motive was he said:
‘’I did not mean to harm anybody. I have been so used to watching content creators, comedy and others. I felt she is too small and cannot be doing comedy. I started to bring her up in the model way by wearing model dresses like ‘catapult pant’ to cover herself and make her as a model. This month, May 28 is her birthday. I went to do her birthday bash. I posted it on her page and it went viral.”
When asked if his action is right, the distraught father said: ‘’I wanted her to become a celebrity”
The little girl is currently in the custody of the Edo state government.
