Despite police ban, the Yoruba nation agitators for oduduwa republic are currently holding a rally on the streets of Abeokuta area of Ogun state, DAILY GIST is reporting.
A source among the agitators who spoke to the DAILY GIST on the development said 10 people out of the agitators have been arrested in Abeokuta and they are being currently detained at Adatan Police.
The Yoruba nation agitators also threatened to extend the rally to ogun government house if those arrested are not release in time.
The Ogun State Police Command had on Friday issued a warning statement to the agitators where it banned them from holding the planned mass rally.
It was gathered that the agitators, who are dressed in various local outfits, stormed Ake palace on Saturday to access other parts of Abeokuta.
The agitators had declared that the time has come for the actualisation of the much-desired Yoruba Nation.
They revealed that the major resources of Nigeria were in the hands of Northerners, stressing that Yorubas were being killed and their land taken over.
The agitators said that there is no basis for ‘one Nigeria’ as insecurity spreads to the southwest region, adding the only solution is for the Yoruba nation to stand on its own
A leader of the acclaimed Yoruba Nation group, while addressing the crowd on Saturday said “we had spoken with the police. Nobody can stop us from walking freely on our fatherland.
“That’s Alake’s palace, we are going there. They all know we are fighting their cause. They know we want to save them from the Fulanis.
“Yorubas can plan a seven-day battle for seven years. What we are doing now is preparation. Just continue repeating that what we want is the Yoruba nation.
“Do not fight anybody. We are not criminals. We are not here to attack anybody. We did not come here with any weapons. What we want is a Yoruba nation.”
