Some youths on Thursday have stormed the street of Ibadan to show their grievances over unending illegal arrests by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

The protesters took their agitation to the main entrance of the Oyo state Secretariat in Agodi Ibadan.

The protesters alleged incessant harassment, extortion, molestation and arrest by officials of the anti-graft agency.

The youths were seen carrying placards of various inscriptions asking the
government to end EFCC and stop it’s activities.

The youths, who also caused traffic around Bodija area of Ibadan, accused the anti-graft agency of carrying out illegal house searches and arrests in their operations.

They sought the review and reform of the agency’s activities.

One of the protesters who identified himself as Samuel while speaking with reporters covering the protest said they are agitating against indiscriminate arrest by the EFCC who many times accused them of being internet fraudsters.

Samuel who said he is an engineer into real estate lamented that on several occasions he has been bursted by officers of the EFCC accusing him of being into internet fraud otherwise known as Yahoo-Yahoo.

DAILY GIST recalled that similar protest had taken place in Delta state where the youths accused the anti-graft agency of illegal arrest and molestation.

The protest later turned violent with the burning of over 20 trucks with goods worth several millions of naira.
