Nigeria’s largest telecommunication company, MTN has reacted following service outage across the country.
MTN users on Saturday were unable to access the call, data, SMS and other services.
Since the outage of Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, DAILY GIST gathered MTN has been having network failure issues.
Checks by DAILY GIST confirmed that the network icon as at the time of filling this report was displaying “Emergency calls only”.
Some of the MTN subscribers have since switched to other telecom service providers in order to call and browse.
However reacting in a statement on Saturday as to what caused the outage, MTN spokesperson, Funsho Aina said the Telecom company has been experiencing a downtime, but will soon restore services to customers.
MTN Nigeria in a statement said, “Some of our customers are having difficulty connecting to the network today. We’re looking into this and are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
Although some subscribers reported that the outage has been resolved as of 6pm on Saturday, others are still encountering difficulty using MTN to call and browse
