The United Kingdom (UK) government has apologized to Peter Obi after immigration officials admitted wrongly giving the Labour Party Presidential Candidate a detention note.
Obi was said to have been arrested and detained for hours and interrogated by the officials, after his British Airways plane landed at Heathrow Airport on Friday morning.
The former Anambra governor was said to have been detained over an alleged duplicate identity.
The UK immigration authority in his apology said the uncomplimentary treatment he received was “completely unacceptable,” and issued a personal apology.
“Frankly, the Immigration Official’s action – has been appalling – and we are sorry,” Immigration authorities apologized.
