Barely 2 days After deleting the tweet of President Muhammadu Buhari which the micro-blogging site deemed genocidal, Twitter has also deleted a tweet made by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).
DAILY GIST gathered that the new development occurred on Saturday evening, about twenty-four hours after the Nigerian Government banned Twitter operation in the country.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had on Friday announced the suspension of Twitter during a press conference in Abuja while explaining that Nigerians were persistently using the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence
Mohammed said the social media giant had conveniently ignored inciting tweets by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and his cohorts.
He said Twitter ignored Kalu’s remarks that encouraged the killing of Police personnel and the show of similar biases during the ENDSARS protest where government and private properties were looted and set on fire, considering it human rights. Mohammed, who wondered why the organisation now found President Buhari’s tweet offensive, said Twitter’s role is suspicious and Nigeria will not be fooled
Nnamdi Kanu, in the now deleted tweet, had threatened that no Army sent to the South-East will return back alive.
It’s not for the living to respond to the dead but given the lack of reasoning prevalent in the Nigeria, I wish to assure @GarShehu, the Jihadi midget @elrufai & that Fulani lapdog Femi Adesina that any army they send to #Biafraland will die there. None will return alive,” the secessionist had tweeted on Wednesday.
Explaining why it was deleted, Twitter said the tweet goes against its rules.
In a check by DAILY GIST, It shows; “This Tweet is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules.”
