The Ondo state governorship election tribunal has delivered a judgement on the petition filed by candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Eyitayo Jegede, against the victory of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Rotimi Akeredolu of APC has been declared to be the winner of the ondo gubernatorial election by the tribunal on Tuesday

While delivering judgement in Akure, the chairman of the three-member panel Justice Umar Abubakar struck out the petition of Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP for want of Jurisdiction.

According to him “Issue raised therein in this petition are settled the issue of internal affairs and management of a political party which this Tribunal has no jurisdiction.”

DAILY GIST gathered that the judgement was delivered virtually due to the ongoing strike by the judicial workers.

Jegede in the petition had asked the tribunal to declare him winner of the October 10, 2020 governorship election in the State. According to him Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Ayedatiwa were not validly nominated by the APC.
