Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been sworn-in as the 16th president of Nigeria on Monday, May 29th.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Eagle Square in Abuja, amidst heightened anticipation and a gathering of dignitaries, political leaders, and citizens from across the country.
The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola
Tinubu, a seasoned politician and former governor of Lagos State, was declared winner of the country’s February 25 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Atiku abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi of the Labour Party who came third with a total of 6,101,533 votes, while Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.
His inauguration heralds a new era for Nigeria, with hopes of transformative leadership and economic growth.
He’s expected to deliver his inaugural speech after taking his oath of office.
