Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) and Nigeria Police on Monday have shut Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Akure, Ondo state capital.
The development, following of a planned protest by youths of the party demanding to know the whereabouts of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
It was gathered that the operatives stormed the party’s secretariat with eight patrol vans and one Armored Personnel Carrier which were stationed in front of the secretariat where the youths intended to converge.
The armed security operatives arrived at the party secretariat on Monday morning making it difficult for the protesters to converge.
Some members of the party who arrived at the secretariat kicked against the security presence, saying it was meant to intimidate them against proceeding with the protest.
The spokesperson of the Ondo PDP, Kennedy Peretei, accused the security operatives of being used to prevent the planned protest.
The party also gives Governor Akeredolu three-day ultimatum to either resume office at Governor’s Office at Alagbaka, Akure or resign.
DAILY GIST recalls that Akeredolu had in September returned to the country from his three-month medical vacation in Germany where he treated an undisclosed illness.
However since his return, Akeredolu has reportedly been staying at his private residence in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, a development that has forced critics of his administration to demand his resignation.
