Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have attacked Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, killing at least 5 mourners.
According to report, the attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, left many others seriously injured.
Eyewitnesses said the herdsmen attacked mourners and farmers in the Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, leaving them in tears and grief.
Some of those killed were Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.
A gruesome video obtained by DAILY GIST on Monday showed a deserted community as people scamper for safety.
The voice in the video cried out that the attackers took the villagers by surprise and shot sporadically at the mourners.
Tables and chairs could be seen scattered in the compound where the mourners had gathered, with lifeless villagers also seen in the pool of their blood.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe is yet to react to the incident.
Similar incident occurred in 2016 in Nimbo community where headers attacked residents, killing scores.
The incident sparked a nationwide outrage.
