The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced date to deliver judgement in the appeals filed by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Both Atiku and Obi were not satisfied with the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which dismissed their petitions against Tinubu’s election victory.

The duo consequently filed appeals at the apex court.

On Monday, DAILY GIST reported that the apex court stated that there were conflicting letters from the Chicago State University, CSU on the certificate of President Bola Tinubu.

Justice Okoro said one of the letters is authenticating the President’s certificate and another discrediting it.

The lead justice of the panel, therefore, said criminal matters have to be proven beyond reasonable doubt.

“But in this case, there are two conflicting letters from the CSU – one authenticating the president’s certificate and another discrediting it. Which do we rely on?” he asked.

A seven-member panel of the court, headed by Justice John Okoro, heard the appeals on Monday and reserved judgment to a date to be communicated to parties.

The apex court has now fixed Thursday, October 26, to rule on the appeals against Tinubu’s victory.
