The Nigerian government has placed Yoruba nation agitator and freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho on stop list
According to the federal government, the development is to facilitate his arrest and directed the DSS, Police operatives and other security agencies to apprehend him anywhere he is found.
The was contained in a statement made available to Journalists which was signed by the Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Investigation and Compliance, A.B. Baba titled ‘Stop-listing of person’ Adeyemo Sunday Adeniyi (aka Sunday Igboho), male, Nigerian, passport number A11613637, date of birth 10/10/1972’
The statement read; “I am directed to request that you kindly place the above-named person on stop-list. Credible intelligence revealed that Adeyemo is making efforts to obtain a police extract and/or court affidavit to enable him acquire a new Nigerian passport, apparently to facilitate his escape out of the country.
“In addition, he should be arrested wherever and whenever sighted and referred to the Director-General, Department of State Services vide letter no: S.605/A/246 dated 05 July 2021.”
Recall that DAILY GIST had reported how Ighoho’s house in Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo state was attacked at the wee hours of Thursday
The Department of State Services(DSS) confirmed that its responsible for the attack on Sunday Igboho’s house on Thursday
DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists.
According to Peter, The raid was based on intelligence that Igboho had allegedly stockpiled arms and ammunition in his house.
But Igboho in a statement released by his media aide, Koiki on Friday night said the weapons paraded by the DSS as recovered from his house did not belong to him.
Igboho noted that the guns found in his house were ‘government magic stating that he used traditional power to protect himself instead rather than guns.
The activist added that there was no prior invitation sent to him by the agency neither was any search warrant used by the officers who invaded his home.
According to him, the invasion at his house was an attempt by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to silence him so the killer-herdsmen, whom he always antagonized, will take over the South-West region.
The hiding place of Sunday Igboho is still unknown to security agencies and the general public. Although report claims Intelligence community in Nigeria have located his hideout
The report said that the intelligence agencies are restraining from taking him in due to tactical reasons.
It added that the government is being careful not to increase the tension in South-West and the country.
