Makinde’s supporters have already started rallying behind him, using the hashtag #MakindeForPresident to promote his candidacy.
At the moment, the governor is hosting PDP press corps members in Ibadan, where he is showcasing his projects in the southwest states.

Earlier, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State said that Governor Makinde, would contest in the 2027 presidential election.
The Acting Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, who also doubles as Youth Leader, Michael Ogunsina revealed that Makinde is better than the current President, Bola Tinubu
Ogunsina said Makinde could be brought in to finish the tenure of the South, adding that the governor is the most experienced in the zone.
He said that Makinde had demonstrated leadership, stating that the governor believed in data, science and logic to engender good governance.
DAILY GIST reported in August that a WhatsApp group was created to promote the governor’s potential presidential bid in 2027.
The group, which currently boasts 467 members then includes prominent individuals such as Olajide Odidiomo, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest.
Notably, several of Governor Makinde’s aides and local government officials are also part of the group, including his personal assistant on political matters, Akeem Azeez.
