Security operatives have fired shots at Rivers State Governor, Similanyi Fubara as he stormed the House of Assembly on Monday.
Fubara confirmed the development while addressing his supporters at the complex.
The crisis rocking the state has taken new dimension. On Monday, the house suspended and removed the Majority leader, Hon. Edison Ehie, a loyalist of the governor.
Addressing some of his supporters on Monday morning, the governor accused security agencies of compromise.
He spoke after Edie Edison, his strong ally, was removed as Majority Leader of the Rivers House of Assembly.
According to him, security operatives shot directly at him at the Assembly Complex.
Addressing his supporters, the governor said he has not committed any offence to warrant impeachment by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment.”
The governor, who assured the people of the state of getting the dividends of democracy, said he would speak on the matter at the appropriate time.
“Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time I will address the press,” he said
Fubara was reported to have sacked his Chief of Staff, Chidi Amadi, and the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Government House, Promise Wosu.
The duo are loyalists of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
