The Martin Amaewhule-led Rivers Assembly on Monday has suspended all expenditures of the state Governor Siminalayi Fubara
This follows the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum given to the governor to present his budget before the House
The lawmakers said the suspension is until the Governor re-presents his budget at the Rivers Assembly.
DAILY GIST recalls that the lawmakers had given the Governor a seven-day ultimatum to re-present his budget.
The ultimatum, however has expired.
Rivers House Leader, Major Jack, moved the motion to bring up a resolution alerting the House of the governor’s seven-day deadline for presenting the 2024 budget to the House.
After deliberation, the House voted to shut down the Rivers State Consolidated Revenue Account thus preventing Governor Fubara’s administration from spending any money on behalf of the state.
