Famous Nollywood actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu, Nollywood veteran has reportedly died.
He passed away on Saturday at the age of 62.
According to reports, the veteran comedian passed died at Evercare hospital.
The news was confirmed by Actors Guild Of Nigeria(AGN) president, Emeka Rollas in a statement on Saturday evening, expressing grief over the actor’s death.
“Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor. I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace,” Rollas wrote.
Many fans have shared condolences on X, reminiscing movies the late actor has featured.
The actor had been battling health issues in October 2023, and undergone multiple surgeries that led to the amputation of his leg.
He had solicited prayers and financial assistance from fans as he battled health issues over the past weeks.
However, updates from his family in November indicated he was recovering.
DAILY GIST reports that the news of his death comes less than 24 hours after the demise of Quadri Oyebamiji popularly known as Sisi Quadri, another Nollywood Actor.
In 2019, Mr Ibu alleged that his kinsmen paid some of his domestic workers to poison him because of his successful career.
In May 2022, the comic actor again alleged that he was poisoned for the third time.
