A police station located on Olayiwola Close, in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State has been set ablaze by some suspected hoodlums.
The angry youths who invaded the station in the early hours of Monday also injured a policeman on duty.
The assaulted officer sustained an injury in the head and rushed to the emergency centre at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for prompt treatment.
However, the motivation behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
According to report, officials of the Lagos State Fire Service were contacted and mobilised to the scene to salvage the situation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said an investigation into the case had commenced.
He asserted that no suspect had been arrested, noting that a police reinforcement was promptly dispersed to the scene and two of the agitators were arrested while others escaped.
