Security operatives in Anambra state have arrested suspected killer of Dr Chike Akunyili, the husband of former Minister of Information and Ex-Director general of NAFDAC, Prof Dora Akunyili.
DAILY GIST reported that some unknown gunmen had killed Dr Akunyili at Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday.
It was gathered that Dr Akunyili had earlier visited the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) for an event before he was murdered.
Police Commissioner in the state, Tony Olofu while addressing Journalists did not mention the arrests, but a senior police source said four persons were arrested, but two were released after proper investigation
“Anambra command will not rest until those behind these attacks, killings and arsons are exposed,” the police source reportedly said.
The police also said they are on the hunt for those who set ablaze the houses of Joe Igbokwe, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Drainage and Water Resources, and former Minister of Finance, Dr Chu Okongwu
The two buildings were burnt on Sunday in Otolo, Nnewi.
During the Nnewi attack two persons were killed including a third-year Medical Laboratory student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
