The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Is-haq Oloyede, has handed over to the agency’s director of information technology services, Fabian Okoro.
The development was following an order by the federal government to hand over to the most senior director in the board after the tenure of Oloyede ended.
DAILY GIST gathered that, Okoro who joined the examination board in 1993 as a programmer was appointed a deputy director in 2018, and is said to be the most senior director in the establishment.
Recall that Oloyede was appointed as the registrar of JAMB on August 1, 2016 following the sack of Dibu Ojerinde, An Ex-registrar of the board who is currently facing trial for financial misappropriation during his tenure as JAMB’s Registrar and during his reign at the National Examination Council (NECO).
It was not immediately clear whether President Muhammadu Buhari will re-appoint Oloyede or appoint new person as the Board’s Registrar, DAILY GIST however gathered that the Ministry of Education will break his silence on the matter in the coming days
ABOUT MR FABIAN O. OKORO.
Mr. Fabian O. Okoro graduated from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Computer Science in 1992 with Second Class (Upper Division) and holds a Master of Science (Msc) in Computer Science (internet Computing) from the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom in 2007.
After his NYSC in 1993 he joined the services of the Board as a programmer. In 1996 he was promoted to the post of a Senior programmer, in 1999 he became a Principal programmer, an Assistant Chief System Analyst in 2002, an Assistant Director in 2006. He was promoted to the post of a Deputy Director in 2011.
Mr. Okoro has received awards which include staff merit award for outstanding performance among others. He has attended and presented research papers in conferences, seminars and workshop both locally and internationally. He is widely travelled.
After working for JAMB as a programmer for three years, the new acting registrar was promoted as a senior programme in 1996 and became a chief system analyst in 2002 and an assistant director in 2006.
