The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, ile-ife has shifted its resumption date by one week following the postponement of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections to Saturday, March 18, 2023.
The University spokesperson, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju confirmed the development to DAILY GIST on Saturday.
Recall that the management had shut down the university from Wednesday, 22nd February to Tuesday, 14th March 2023, to enable staff and students to participate in the general elections following a directive from the National Universities Commission(NUC).
Mr Abiodun noted that the postponement of resumption date was sequel to the re-scheduling of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections from Saturday, March 11, 2023, to Saturday, March 18, 2023.

2023 RESCHEDULED ELECTIONS: OAU POSTPONES RESUMPTION DATE
Consequent upon the postponement of the Gubernatorial and State Houses of Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the University administration hereby notifies the general public, particularly students, that the resumption of academic activities earlier scheduled for 15th March, 2023, has been shifted to Tuesday, 21st March, 2023.
Consequently, students are expected back on campus on Monday, 20th March, 2023, and to resume academic activities accordingly.
We wish our students a safe trip back to the Campus.”
