Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja is currently battling an illness and has left duty.
Nigerian activist and human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju stated this in a statement on his page on Friday, DAILY GIST reports
Adeyanju who revealed that “anyone can fall sick, prays for speedy recovery for Lagbaja.
According to him, he received news that the army chief is dealing with an undisclosed health issue.
He said: “It is important to note that anyone can fall sick and so, I call for empathy towards the army boss and his family.
I’d like to extend my heartfelt wishes for his speedy recovery.
Moreover, the Nigerian Army should ensure a seamless transition of duties and maintain its operational effectiveness during Lieutenant General Lagbaja’s recovery.
We pray for Lieutenant General Lagbaja’s swift recovery and return to duty.“
The Nigerian army is yet to issue any statement on the development as of press time
