Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade, Ohafia, and some yet-to-be-identified gunmen are currently engaging in fierce gun-duel in Mbata, Umuchima village, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Abia state
According to reports, over 15 Hilux and Armoured vehicles from the Nigerian army were deployed to Umuchima village on Monday to attack gunmen who are said to have been camping in the village around the river demarcating Abia State and Mbaise in Imo State.
Junctions leading to and fro the Village have been taken over by Soldiers while many of them are facing the unknown gunmen in the bush.
As of the time of publishing this report, eyewitnesses said sounds of gunshots are still being heard in the area.
No official statements have been issued by the Nigerian Army or the Abia State government.
